About Karina

Karina Mattei has been an artist all her life. She has worked as a jewelry designer for 40 years. She began in ceramics in the 1970’s, working for a decade in both ceramics and jewelry. After focusing on jewelry for many years she shifted back to her ceramics in the past decade. Karina finds the liquidity of the clay is an inspiring change from her jewelry work and she enjoys the movement and sculptural qualities that clay provides. Since moving to South Carolina, she has been creating new work that combines ceramics, woodworking, metals, and glass.
